Due to the structure of DPC (Diagnosis Procedure Combination), it is difficult to extract DPC data by limiting it to pediatric patients, except for MDC14 “neonatal diseases and congenital malformations” (diagnosis group classification for patients within 28 days of birth). Therefore, for the utilization of DPC data in pediatric care, we considered it necessary to construct a database that is tied to DPC (Diagnosis Procedure Combination) and age groups.

The Medical Information Management Office of the National Center for Child Health and Development (NCCHD), in collaboration with the Information and Communication Research Institute (IIC), which has been selected for the AI Hospital Research and Development Project sub-theme A: “Project for Construction of Highly Secure Medical Information Database and Development of Extraction and Analysis Technologies for Useful Medical Information Using the Database”, has developed the following database.

We are developing a benchmark analysis tool for DPC data specialized for pediatric and perinatal care, using highly secure secret sharing and secret computation technology. The purpose of this research is to conduct analyses that lead to the evaluation of medical quality and management indicators based on DPC data in a secure environment among affiliated facilities of the Japan Association of Comprehensive Healthcare Facilities for Children (JACHRI), which is responsible for pediatric and perinatal care.
